Celebrities today can never get their freedom. Although many famous people will do whatever they can to make the headlines or be a target for the paparazzi, every person has certain things going on in their life that would be better if it were kept to themselves. I think that magazines, newspapers, television shows, and anything of the sort tend to be very cruel and immoral and are just looking to make money. People will say or show anything in order to get people to watch or listen, and they are doing it at the expense of other people's emotions. Currently in the news, there have been hundreds of reports of Britney Spears, and how she shaved her head and tattooed herself after leaving rehab. Things are being said about her new looks and her spur-of-the-moment attitude, and not all the things being said are positive. It is obvious that Britney is going through a hard time in her life right now, but just because she is famous does is mean that her personal problems need to be shared with the world? In my opinion, it is wrong for things to be published or broadcasted without 100% approval from the person who is being spoke of. Does Mary-Kate Olsen need everybody to be reminded of her battle with anorexia? Was it appropriate for Bill Clinton's sexual life to be announced to the country? As much as people enjoy hearing this gossip, I have strong opinions against the media for giving personal details about people's lives without their permission. Famous or not, every human being has feelings, and nobody wants their personal lives being portrayed negatively to the public.

I agree that the invasive aspects of media-fueled celebrity exposure is over the top. I think the celebrities themselves are getting what they wanted, to some degree, though. There are certain celebrities that you never see in these kinds of situations because they don't want the spotlight and they don't act like walking disasters. However, it is depressing to hear so many media figures (especially on the radio) gloating about someone like Britney Spears, as if they held some kind of moral advantage over her, when, in fact, they are like leeches feeding on someone else's misery. Ultimately though, in this society, the media will produce images and stories that the public wants. It seems like there is a negative synergy here, where each side (media and the public) brings out the worst tendencies in the other.

I agree with what your saying here for sure, but I actually think about all the celebrities out there and some more famous than others, yet the same group gets put in the tabloids. I think that the media is attracted to the extravegant celebrity lifestyle and some people show it more than others. If you look at famous actors and directors, like Steven Spielberg, Will Smith, Steve Carrell, Julia Roberts and many others are rarely seen in the tabloids, yet they are extremely famous. I see it as Lindsay Lohan, Brittney Spears, Nicole Richie and others that frequent the tabloids are putting themselves out there to be photographed and documented for a reason, publicity in their eyes sometimes is never bad. I do also see where your coming from, because who cares if they're extremely wealthy, they are human beings just like you and I and they have feelings. My only thought is that I feel they get into the money and media and popularity that solely by living in Hollywood makes them targets by the media and gossip columns.
